The Skkn by Kim creator detailed how she lost 16 pounds quickly. "I would wear a sauna suit twice a day, run on the treadmill, completely cut out all sugar and all carbs, and just eat the cleanest veggies and protein," she said. "I didn't starve myself, but I was so strict."
Kim finally fit into Marilyn's outfit after shedding 16 pounds in three weeks. The zip didn't zip up all the way, so Kim had to cover herself with a white jacket.
Losing that much weight so quickly has hazards. Kim admitted that she followed a rigid diet and lifestyle, which some health professionals have criticized, but she didn't starve herself.
Kim's diet is "definitely not a safe way to lose weight," Genki Nutrition owner and New York State Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics spokesperson Jonathan Valdez, RDN, told Women's Health.
FitOn trainer Bree Mitchell, CPT told the pub Kim's diet is unsustainable and unrealistic. "I certainly don't think it's a long-term solution," Mitchell said, adding that severe diets like Kim's cause weight gain faster. We suppose you can get it back faster if you lose it quickly!
"When you go that far in one direction, that's where that rebounds on the other side," Mitchell said, adding that consuming more water will restore water weight loss. "Your body's always going to find a way to get what it needs."
Mitchell also warned that a diet like this can increase stress and cortisol, making it harder for the body to absorb nutrients from food.
Mitchell noted, "We work hard for our muscles," and "you really do risk losing muscle after that type of extreme weight loss." Kim's Met Gala diet can also harm metabolism and cause muscle loss.
